Virtually all kittens are born with some burden of parasites they get from their Mom or the environment. Cats usually go outside and lick-up parasites or parasite eggs, or owners may bring them into the house in their shoes or clothing, and cats become infected. This is why we recommend annual dewormings. Also, all cats have some level of risk of becoming infected with Heartworm disease across the United States. For this reason we may recommend year-round, monthly Heartworm preventative for your cat, if they are exposed.
